Menos El Oso
Minus the Bear at the Warsaw 10/5/07
I swear they get better every time I see them. If I had to make one complaint, it’s that everything sounds exactly like it does on the albums. Which when you really think about it, is a fucking unbelievable feat on its own. The only other band I’ve seen that was that tight was Minibosses, and if you’ve ever seen them live you know that is a big compliment.
The Warsaw is a strange music venue. Aside from being an 800 person hipster music venue, it is the Polish National Home in Brooklyn. So beers are $4 (a steal by even Brooklyn standards), you can eat a perogi or a polish sausage for $5, and you can watch some really amazing bands like Minus the Bear or Peeping Tom. Other nights though, you can get a slice of Polish life by attending a polish dance (they have a disco ball and everything). All the bouncers are polish kids who I would never want to fuck with because I’m sure there is some kind of polish mafia that would break my kneecaps if I made a wrong move. At least that’s the look they all have about them.
I can’t wait to see my next show there.

i have to agree with you on the Minibosses. they were excellent. and they had one guy, the bassist i think, that was had been in the band a month or so when we saw them at SXSW. and even with that they still hardly missed a beat.
