6-person tables

I have no attention span, I can admit it. For some reason when I play poker I need to be playing four different poker games (three if I’m attempting to chat with people or watch tv at the same time). I can’t help myself. I make stupid plays when I just have one table going (stupider than some of the mistakes I make when playing too many games at the same time). So I stick to the 6-max NL games. They’ve treated me well so far and I’m liking it, but I know I need to get myself used to 10-person NL games because that’s what I’m going to be playing live.

But these 6 person s’n'g tournaments? That’s the ultimate r0x0r. It’s the k-r0x0r even. Now if I can win a jackpot, I’ll be crazy excited.

  1. No attention span, reasons #4-9 why I don’t play online anymore. I don’t feel like I get a sense of the table if I play more than one, but then one is too boring. With live casinos near by I guess its easier to just go play live too.

The LA Poker Classic is coming up this month and I think they actually have a short handed tournament so…. And Brunson won bracelet #10 in the shorthanded event last year.

One thing I’ve noticed about my game was not being patient, especially in cash games. In tournaments, especially when blinds go up fast, you have to be slightly more open with starting hands. But cash games you can wait and wait and wait some more. Something it took me a while to figure out, not to mention some painful losses. Once I made myself be more patient and focused, my game improved dramatically. I generally study the other people when not in a hand. I played about 6 hours one night and remember playing down maybe 5 hands. Talk about patience. But I also came home with 4X my original amount. Anyway, Try making yourself focus at one table, I think it will pay off more when you go play live action. Take notes on betting patterns or something so that you are “busy” but at least it is busy in the right areas.
