A weekend of poker tournaments

This weekend, being the first weekend that I have been around in a while, I decided that I should do some laundry, mow the lawn (which took 3 hours), and play some poker. Coming off the fantastic time that I had in San Jose, I decided to continue on my quest to become a better tournament player, which meant playing a bunch of huge tournaments. I’m not sure if I’m getting better, or if I just did well this weekend because all the poker bloggers are in Vegas. Either way, it was quite a boost to my ego, though it didn’t really affect my bankroll at all. I’m still working on getting to a final table, but that will have to continue to be a dream. I don’t really know of a good way to get all the info on the tournament (# of participants, buy-ins, etc) so other than the hand history logs, I just have to remember all the rest of the details. I think these were all $20 buy-in tourneys though. And I’m pretty sure they all started with over 800 players.

All in all, I was really happy with how I played. I can’t think of a hand where I was behind when I put all my chips in (with the exception of the bust out hand on the first one). For my bust out hands, in each situation, I had less than 2x the big blind so I’m not terribly shocked by the A5o or 97o all-in calls. A good weekend of tournaments at last! And as an added bonus, I’m almost finished clearing the June PP bonus as well!

I’m tired of the play money tables, where do you play? I read something about Party Poker (Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition), but I was unable to find the pay tables. Thanks.

I mainly play at Party Poker and I’ve been trying to work off my deposit bonus from Full Tilt as well. I like the options on Full Tilt better, but their interface kills me with the cartoon figures. The real money tables should be in the same interface with the play money tables. I guess you need to make sure that you downloaded the software from partypoker.com instead of .net though. Depositing money can be a pain in the ass. I went with creating a separate savings account (it didn’t cost me anything at my bank) because I’m paranoid and then using a iGM-Pay account tied to it. The best way to go is with Neteller as it can be used with a large number of online poker sites, but they charge you to deposit from a bank account, so I just end up pushing from my party poker account to neteller when I want to deposit money in my neteller account.

On another note, I totally forgot to respond to your previous post about how the money games work in Vegas. It’s a ring game and you basically buy in for whatever you like (at the lowest limits the minimum is something like $20) and you are free to come in or stand up whenever you please.

Okay, I went to .net. I just finished a play money mutli-table with 1453 and placed 143rd. I’ve adjusted my tournament strategy to get more money up front so I last longer. Actually, I might be playing the way you’re suppose to, I just figured it out. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I’ll see you at a table soon.
